Our Strategy
North Dakota is the number one State in the nation for wind resource potential. The semi-desert climatic conditions in combination with annual temperature extremes prevent significant forestation. Thelack of forestation and continental climate are the main contributors to high wind speeds. The presence of elevated ridges known as buttes provide ideal locations to site wind turbines. All of these same geographic characteristics contributing to high wind speeds in North Dakota and the presence of elevated ridge lines are found in parts of South Dakota and Montana. Crownbutte has successfully developed and built two wind parks now in operation today and has hundreds of megawatts of new wind parks sited on more than 60,000 acres of land across North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana now under development.Crownbutte’s operational strategy is to site its wind parks in the best wind resource locations in the nation with access to existing and planned transmission infrastructure. From start to finish, developing and building a wind power generation facility can take five to seven years. A number of Crownbutte’s utility scale wind parks are now exiting the development stage and shovel-ready.
As a publicly traded Company (Ticker: CBWP), Crownbutte is poised to capitalize on a clean energy future. With the continued deregulation of energy markets and the increasing public demands for clean energy, new and growing markets for wind power are opening for Crownbutte.
